On the 6th of February this year, a trail running story just about broke the internet. A runner in Colorado fought and killed an 80-pound mountain lion that attacked him on a nature trail in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, wildlife officials said.

Yes, it’s time. Time to declutter, unfollow, let go and simplify. Time to discard that which does not serve you, and be true to the calling of your heart. Time for the New Year’s resolutions to be less about counting calories or kg and more about counting blessings and opportunities for growth.

The reality is, our lives have sped up to a point where many of us feel like we are Dabchicks swimming across a stretch of water; trying desperately to maintain a calm appearance with our legs paddling frantically below. We’re bombarded by daily pressure to keep it all together with the vague idea that we’ll take a break, some day.

From 15 to 19 June this year, a small group of runners will tackle a 110km journey through the ancient arid mountainous landscape of the Richtersveld National Park, South Africa - a World Heritage site, and one of only 25 biodiversity hotspots in the World.
