The Bos Sport Mountain Challenge Series, amplified by Jaybird, is coming in hot and we’re hard at work making some changes, and polishing this well-oiled machine to ensure another great mountain running journey for you all. Your 3-race series will once again deliver tough and rewarding challenges and culminate in the best of the Cape beasts at Marloth in Swellendam.
We welcome the return of our sponsors and partners, and look forward to announcing some extended partnerships in due course. The Series consists of three separate bog mountain races; the Jonkershoek Mountain Challenge (JMC), the Helderberg Mountain Challenge (HMC) and the Marloth Mountain Challenge (MMC). JMC and early bird entries open 28th February 2019.
As per previous years, you can book a series package (Ultra, Extreme or Lite) and enjoy a discounted entry fee. Or book any one of the events individually.
So what is changing?
- Race briefing for all three events will now be done virtually via live streaming, with dates and times to be announced in due course.
- Pre-race kit check will be done on the morning of each event using a random kit check method. This will be chased up with a kit check at the finish line to ensure fairness and compliance. The full list of compulsory mountain running equipment and associated penalties are available here.
- The Marloth Mountain Challenge race day is moving from a Sunday to a Saturday. Saturday evening will conclude the Bos Sport Mountain Challenge Series, amplified by Jaybird with a celebratory evening dinner complete with Saggy Stone beer on tap (read: after party skop!) and awards presentation. You don’t want to miss this culmination of 8 big mountain vibe.
- In Swellendam while the Marloth Mountain Challenge is taking place, there will be a 10km fun run taking place for those less inclined to be hurting in the mountains!
